The Rivergate Difference
Rivergate’s illustrious reputation surpasses borders and expectations.
Since opening our doors in 2006, Rivergate has become a name that visiting vessel owners know and trust, with many returning time and time again to experience the Rivergate difference.
If you’ve never utilised the premier refit or marina services on offer at Rivergate, here are the four reasons that set us apart from our competitors.
1. Ingenuity is behind every project
To oversee and manage complex refits, there needs to be a team of experts with not only the required knowledge and technical ability, but the capacity to think outside the square. When you choose Rivergate as your refit and maintenance destination, you have access to a team of project managers with a rich and diverse background within the marine industry. This project management team is equipped for any challenges that may arise during a vessel’s refit or
maintenance period. For example, during travel restrictions in 2020 and 2021, Rivergate’s project managers used Zoom to carry out the installation and commission of a Zenoro generator, working remotely with engineers in the Netherlands, which was a world-first for both Zenoro and Xeamos. You can learn more about that here.
2. Exceptional facilities, location and workmanship
Rivergate’s world-class facilities, coupled with its prime location, makes it the clear choice for visiting captains and crew. With 75-tonne and 300-tonne ship lifts, mooring in 105 berths, a 24/7 fuel dock and much more, Rivergate is home to everything that ship owners, captains, and crew require.
Rivergate is the ideal location for visiting vessels looking for berthing, refit or maintenance services, with deep water access on all tides, near perfect weather for year-round operations, an extensive world-class skills base and professional management. Its prime position along the Brisbane River ensures easy accessibility for ship owners and operators, in addition to its close proximity to bustling urban amenities such as a 24-hour international airport, hotels, restaurants, shopping centres and entertainment precincts. Located midway between Sydney and the Great Barrier Reef, Rivergate is also the perfect launching pad for superyacht owners visiting Australia’s east coast or cruising the South Pacific Islands.
When it comes to onsite trades and contractors, only the best will do for Rivergate’s visiting vessels. Rivergate is home to 500 contractors across 20 marine specialty trades, such as shipwrights, engineers, electricians, technicians, painters and more, who bring their expertise to every project and ensure high-quality workmanship.
3. Commitment to environmental sustainability
Rivergate is an accredited Level 3 International Clean Marina, highlighting the business’ commitment to meet and exceed environmental legislation and expectations.
The International Clean Marina program is an international voluntary accreditation program run that encourages environmental compliance and use of best management practices for Australian and overseas marinas.
To receive a Level 3 International Clean Marina accreditation, trained and qualified Clean Marina Consultants must carry out an independent audit of the site.

4. Known for producing the best outcome for customers
From our administration team right through to the onsite trades, everyone working at Rivergate has one purpose – to give our visitors and customers the best possible experience. No matter how long the stay or the scale of the project, Rivergate’s team of highly skilled marine experts are here to give you the best outcome. But, don’t just take our word for it – read two testimonials from visiting captains who have recently visited Rivergate for refit and maintenance work on the vessels they command.
“One of the reasons we keep coming back to Rivergate, and it's simple really, is purely the level of workmanship. It's consistently high compared with so many other yards that the vessel's been to in the past. The level of workmanship here completed by not only Rivergate staff but also the key contractors is exceptional. You can't fault it, and it's just going to last for years.” - David Sharpe, Captain of MY Plan B, 2023.
“Right from the start, our yard work at Rivergate has always been smooth. We’ve always had the help and advice we’ve needed, and on the occasion, we’ve had to come in with urgent or emergency works, it’s been one of those things where we’ve called on the people we know and trust to get the work done quickly and to the highest quality.” Luke Caldwell, Captain of MY Kokomo II, 2023.
Rated as one of the top three superyacht shipyards in the world for refit and maintenance, it’s not just the expertise and meticulousness of Rivergate’s tradespeople that ranks highly with owners but also the level of customer service from our project managers that’s unmatched.
