Rivergate set to put Brisbane on the map at the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show
After two years of international border closures, the Rivergate Marina and Shipyard team is excited to finally set sail to the idyllic waters of Port Hercules for the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show.
The Monaco Yacht Show is widely recognised as the most prestigious event in the superyacht calendar, attracting up to 30,000 attendees, while hosting 450+ exhibitors and featuring $3.6 billion worth of vessels on display.
Rivergate will be one of two Australian shipyard exhibitors at the event, joining forces with The Yard, Brisbane Economic Development Agency and industry peak body Superyacht Australia to promote Brisbane as a premium refit destination.
Rivergate Director Tom Hill said the long-term economic and tourism benefits from having an exhibition booth at Monaco Yacht Show were second-to-none.
“The Monaco Yacht Show is Rivergate’s opportunity to be ambassadors for Australia, to promote our region as a great tourism destination and to educate the industry about the skills and experience available at our Brisbane River facility,” he said.
“In previous years, up to 20 vessels seeking refit and maintenance works have chosen a Brisbane shipyard to carry out the works after key decision-makers were able to meet the team in person and ask questions.
“The flow-on tourism and economic benefits from winning this work are second-to-none and especially valuable in a post-COVID-19 world.
“The ‘Land Down Under’ was thrust into the spotlight at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show when the trailer for ‘Australia InDepth’ was unveiled, so we’d like to keep that momentum going – particularly for Brisbane with the 2032 Olympics on the horizon.”
The Monaco Yacht Show will also provide Rivergate the opportunity to globally showcase plans for its $200 million expansion, which is now shovel-ready after Brisbane City Council approved the Development Application.
“We already have a reputation for being Australia’s premier refit destination, but our expansion will truly position us a premier global refit destination,” Mr Hill said.
“We’re excited to showcase our plans for the expansion, and demonstrate how our $200 million repair, refit and maintenance centre will meet global pent-up demand with increased service capabilities for the world’s most luxurious superyachts.”
