Steve Fisher joins AIMEX Board

Steve Fisher, Rivergate Marina & Shipyard’s Director of International Business has been appointed to the Board of AIMEX-Superyacht Australia, taking up a position representing the Australian Commercial Marine Group.

Steve Fisher, Rivergate Marina & Shipyard’s Director of International Business voted to the AIMEX Board.

“I am honoured and delighted to join the AIMEX-Superyacht Australia Board,” said Steve.

“We find ourselves at a crucial time in our evolution and I am looking forward to contributing to the advancement of the Australian industry and its promotion internationally.

“All facets of our industry, from manufacturing to maintenance and positioning Australia as a destination, have incredible potential that is yet to be tapped.

“According to the Economic Impact Study (EIS) conducted by the AEC Group, Australia’s superyacht industry contributed $1.97 billion to gross domestic product (GDP) in 2016. But with changes in legislation so foreign superyachts can charter here, the industry could create an extra 8,100 local jobs and double its value to the economy and the community.”

Steve started his career as an Officer in the Australian Army, gaining his Master qualifications and a Science degree, before working in the offshore marine industry.

For the past 40 years, Steve has worked in the industry on the operation and maintenance of vessels and has pioneered strategies in the marine industry in development, design and management of large yachts.

Representing Rivergate and the Australian superyacht industry, Steve travels to international yacht shows and trade events, and he is a frequent presenter and panellist at industry events, such as the recent Singapore Yacht Show and the annual ASMEX conference at Sanctuary Cove.

Steve is responsible for coordinating superyacht refits and builds at the Brisbane facility. In recognition of his expertise and tenacity, he was awarded the 2014 Superyacht Industry Champion of the Year Award.
