Brisbane’s first double-decker CityCat, built by Aus Ships at Rivergate, will join the city’s transport fleet from November.

The vessel was launched last week in the presence of Council officials, Aus Ships, contractors and the team and tenants at Rivergate.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said CityCat 22, as it’s referred to, represents the evolution of river travel and enhances the passenger experience.

“This is all part of our plan to deliver a modern public transport network with a further six NextGen double-decker CityCats joining the fleet over the next four years.

“The SuperCat is a new generation of CityCat and will be unlike any other vessel, making it a distinctive and dynamic addition to our current fleet,” he continued.

“For the first time passengers will be able to enjoy scenic views from the rooftop of a CityCat, with the double-decker vessel providing 16 upper-deck seats. London is famous for its double-decker buses, what better way to see Brisbane than from our double-decker SuperCat.

“This fourth-generation vessel will feature clear viewing panes below the handrail and larger windows in sections of the main cabin to provide even better views from every location.

“The interior of the CityCat vessel will be enhanced with new table and lounge seating options, as well as USB charging ports, to maximise passenger comfort and experience.”
