Rivergate Celebrates 10 Years of Superlative Superyacht Service
Management, staff, contractors and clients have raised their glasses to toast 10 years of Rivergate at gala event that celebrated the decade in review and the yard’s major achievements.
Founded in 2006 with the aim of becoming the Asia-Pacific refit and maintenance hub for superyachts and commercial vessels, Rivergate has garnered a reputation worldwide for 5-star superyacht service and impeccable workmanship at all levels.
The stats and figures over the past decade are astounding: More than 150 superyachts have chosen Rivergate in the past 10 years, many of them for multiple visits and much of that business the result of word of mouth referral from Captains. An estimated 9 million Litres of fuel have been pumped to vessels onsite.
Rivergate is now poised to launch its 24/7 fuel dock, offering access around the clock.
At the 10-year commemoration, owners Bob Hill and Judy Brinsmead praised staff and contractors for their major contribution to the success of Rivergate, recognising in particular the 10 years of service of General Manager, Andrew Cannon and Commercial Manager, Cameron McBurnie.
Milestones over the years include winning the AIMEX-Superyacht Australia award as the Superyacht Australia Business Service Provider of the Year in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
This year, Rivergate completed its largest build to date for the Queensland Water Police: a 24m, high-speed, purpose-built catamaran which took 31,000 man hours to build. The task-specific, high-tech command and control Water Police vessel was built to exacting international standards in a joint effort among Rivergate, Principal Contractor, Aus Ships and the Queensland Water Police.
It can operate in waters up to 200 nautical miles off the coast at a top speed of 25 knots and provides extraordinary volume to accommodate specialised equipment and up to nine personnel for extended missions along the coastline. The impressive vessel was named in honour of Detective Senior Constable Damian Leeding, who was killed in the line of duty in May 2011.
Recently, there has been an extension of the A-Arm T-Head and Service Berth 2 to accommodate larger vessels and superyachts.
Contractors who attended the 10th anniversary commemorations included Millennium Marine, Lex Baddiley Marine Engineering, Wright Marine, Aus Ships, Maritime Professional Solutions, MET Electrical Services, Gateway Marine and Stella Marine.
“We are exceptionally proud of the Rivergate team and all those who have worked with us over this first decade of operation,” said Director Judy Brinsmead. “In just 10 years, we have made an impact on the world superyacht stage, testament to the professionalism and skills we have on site and available to us in our region.
“We are gratified that our vision of creating a superyacht and commercial vessel refit centre has struck a chord regionally and internationally. Today, Rivergate is considered in the Top 3 shipyards in the world, as rated by Captains. We are looking forward to many decades to come building on our achievements and accolades in the service of the international superyacht fleet.”
