Remarkable Thailand Rendezvous
Rivergate joined Australian superyacht businesses and representatives at the 2024 Australia Thailand Rendezvous, 9 February.
Sponsored by Echo Yachts, the event was hosted by Phuket Yacht Haven Marina, which provided marvellous facilities, a superb backdrop and warm hospitality for the networking and social events that guests enjoyed.
The crews and managers of 22 superyachts took part, and Australian representatives included Chris Blackwell and Doug Steel from Echo Yachts, Carrie Carter from Carter Marine Agencies, Alex Binks from Rivergate Marina & Shipyard, and Martin Baum from Pantaenius Yacht Insurance.
Activities included a Morning Tea Expo, VIP Captains’ Lunch, a spirited Crew Cocktail Making Competition, and a lively Crew Networking Party, held at The Deck at Phuket Yacht Haven Marina.
The Cocktail Making Competition brought a delightful touch of Australian flair, featuring spirited competition between MY Azamanta and MY Galileo, using Australian gins. MY Azamanta also clinched the title for the Best Aussie dress up with their “Vegemite and Toast” ensemble.
During the day, there were numerous networking opportunities aimed at fostering collaboration and growth within the industry.
“It was a very valuable experience,” said Alex Binks, Rivergate’s Marketing Manager.
“The opportunity to meet with crew aboard international superyachts, hear their expectations and plans for the rest of the year and into 2025 is vital for our own forward planning. It was also informative to hear crew impressions of Australian yards, and share with them the innovations and new itineraries they can enjoy down under.
“With the Paris Olympics in July, it was a great time to discuss the potential for visiting Australia during the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games and let them know we’re eagerly awaiting them.”
