2023: Rivergate’s Year in Review

2023 has been successful for the Rivergate Marina and Shipyard team, with many milestones and achievements throughout the year, hundreds of stories from satisfied customers and the talented contractors we work with.

This year, we welcomed numerous superyachts, commercial vessels operating in the tourism, transport and government sectors, as well as motor yachts and sailing yachts owned by local families and cruising owners visiting Rivergate during their voyages.

We provide the same level of service and attention to detail at our world-class facilities to each and every customer and we’re proud to consider so many of our long-time clients part of our extended Rivergate family.

 

Rivergate's Shipyard will be closed from Saturday 23 December and will re-open Tuesday 2 January 2024. 

Emergency lifts can be arranged during this period. All enquiries can be directed to the Marina Office on (07) 3907 1600. Rivergate's Marina Office will only be closed on Christmas Day 25 December. Fuel will remain open with self-service 24/7.

It’s been a big year here at Rivergate Marina and Shipyard!

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights and momentous occasions from 2023.

Rivergate recognised for superyacht service and refit expertise

At the beginning of 2023, Rivergate’s was acknowledged at the Australian Marine Industry Awards, taking out the Superyacht Industry Project/Design or Manufacturer of the Year Award.

The Rivergate entry detailed the complex refit and upgrade works on the iconic 37.5m motor yacht, MY Kokomo II, a regular visitor to Rivergate. The Rivergate team was commended for excellence in a project, design and manufacture in the Australian superyacht sector.

An impressive calibre of refits

In 2023, Rivergate carried out a diverse range of refits on a variety of impressive vessels.

From MY Kokomo II to MY Wanderlust, MY Vivierae, MY Plan B, MY Lunasea and many more, it’s been a busy year in the shipyard – with many captains and owners praising the quality of work from Rivergate’s project managers, contractors and tradespeople.

Sam Tonkin joined the project management team

In 2023, Rivergate welcomed Sam Tonkin to the project management team.

A British expat who previously worked at Pendennis Shipyard, Sam has brought a fresh approach to project management at Rivergate, and has already earned high praises from owners, captains and crew.

Elite supermaxis choose Rivergate as their pre-race destination

Some of the best super maxi teams in the racing scene have visited Rivergate this year, relying on the expertise of the shipyard’s project managers and contractors to get their vessels race ready.

Nine starters prepared for the Brisbane to Hamilton Island Yacht Race at Rivergate, including famed supermaxi, Andoo Commanche.

A successful year of international boat shows

From Sanctuary Cove through to Monaco and Fort Lauderdale, the Rivergate team has clocked up some miles this year, taking the time to explore key superyacht discussion areas and international trends.

We also hosted and attended several rendezvous events, captains’ lunches and industry gatherings, which gave us the opportunity to promote Rivergate and Australia as the ideal destination for servicing, refits and tourism.
